We have a blog?!?!

So July and August of 2010 are forever going to be renamed in my book. They are now called the months of crazy. crazy change...crazy awesome...crazy hectic...simply crazy. We got married on July 10th, went on an INCREDIBLE honeymoon to the Dominican Republic, spent five days living like Kings and Queens, got back and moved the rest of our lives into our awesome little 2 bedroom duplex, Megan and I both got sick, I started a building job for Washington Farms, Meg started work at the Hospital, I got sick AGAIN, and finally... we started our year long internship at the Wesley Foundation. That all happened within two weeks!
Since becoming full-time interns with the freshmen ministry (freshley) Megan and I have learned a lot about ourselves that we didn't really expect to learn. Marriage is harder than we thought but at the same time more rewarding than we could have ever understood. Working with the freshmen ministry is so fun...one - because we work with awesome people...and two - because the freshmen are just really cool to hang out with. All the interns at Wesley have a group of the student leaders that they disciple. (We've been learning some really amazing stuff about the Lord's heart for discipleship.) Megan has six girls that she meets with throughout the week and I have four guys that I get to hang out with. I think the Lord has definitely been growing our joy in the fact that we get to dig in with these leaders and really pursue the Lord and help them learn His heart for them. We Love it!!!
Last week was a really big week for us. Megan had been working every Saturday and Sunday at the hospital on top of working full time at Wesley. We began to see that these long hours were starting to impede with the whole reason we felt like the Lord had called us to Wesley- to pour into our new marriage... Its like back in Old Testament times, the Hebrew soldiers would take a year off from fighting with their regiments so that they could spend that time building a foundational marriage with their wife. When we decided to intern, we made that "idea" the foundation for what we wanted the Lord to do. Well after about a month of working at Wesley, we prayed about it and felt like the Lord was telling us to cut back Megan's hours at the hospital so that we could better pursue that initial goal. Its a leap of faith, but one that we feel is going to be so so good for us. We know the Lord is going to #1 - Provide, #2 - Grow us closer to Him, and #3 - Grow us to have the foundation that He desires us to have in our marriage.
SOOO... Now that we feel soo cool because we officially have our own blog, we want to thank you so much for all you do for us, for you prayers, your financial support, and just your overall encouragement. Y'all are awesome... If you want to get in contact with us...just click the "contact" tab on the home page and shoot us an email. thanks!!!

Survivor??!?

On friday night, the Australian bush came to Athens. WHAT?!?! ya!!! We freshman staff put on one of the greatest freshley fellowship events ever! We called it "Survivor Night"...I got to help emcee the night and I dressed up like an Australian aborigine to make the night "that much better" :) I went to walmart and bought some freaky orange fake eyelashes from their halloween aisle and painted my body with white stripes...it was a blast! we came up with all these crazy games to play with the freshmen...Megan was in charge of the obstacle course and she got creative! she made them start out by "swimming through the ocean" (jumping through buckets of water) and then "climbing a cliff" (balance beam with a bowl of fruit on your head), "spuluncking" (diving under a sheet on poles), shooting the natives (shooting a mannequin with a toy bow and arrow), skinning a fish (unwrapping a tin foil wrapped fish stick hidden in a pan of sardine), and finally wrestling a shark across the finish line (log rolling my stuffed trout pillow)...HA and that was only one of six games! we had a cricket spitting contest...yes...a cricket spitting contest...there was a fire building challenge, a word worm challenge (if you ate the worm you got extra points:)) a tribal war (king of the hill dodgeball), just for a fun game the teams had to tape alkaselzer to their foreheads and have another team mate dissolve it using a squirt gun...and finally I was walking around to all the teams carrying around cards from the worst case scenario board game and if they got the question right then I gave them extra credit... we had a lot of fun hangin out with the freshmen just bein crazy and showin them that at the top party school in America, you can have aton of fun with out drinkin...all you gotta do is have a good community...and get some crazy fake orange eye lashes:)
